HISTORY

The Faculty of Fisheries, Nong Lam University (formerly University of Agriculture and Forestry at Ho Chi Minh City) was established in 1974. Its precursor was the Department of Fisheries, Faculty of Animal Sciences of the Vietnam National Academy of Agriculture. Since 1966, 46 student batches have graduated from the faculty. Currently, the Faculty of Fisheries has 5 Associate Professors, 12 Ph.Ds, and 21 Masters. The Faculty of Fisheries has been pioneering in education, international collaborations, and regional supports (in fishery planning, aquaculture extension, and technology transfer) contributing to the development of Nong Lam University and of fisheries and aquaculture in Vietnam.

MISSIONS

The Faculty of Fisheries, Nong Lam University is one of the leading institutions in terms of education, research, and technology transfer in aquaculture.

The Faculty of Fisheries has also been assigned by Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as an official pre-testing center for new aquaculture species, fish feed, chemicals, additives, and drugs used in aquaculture.
